Curriculum Development

I conduct a thorough needs analysis and perform strategic learning assessments in order to assess the audience, develop curriculum/courses, determine content readiness, define instructional needs, create learning and performance objectives.

 

I have extensive experience interviewing subject matter experts and conducting research to develop effective instructional content for different levels and types of learners; often times dealing with highly technical content. I pride myself on my ability to build relationships with the development team and stakeholders, making sure that the development time and efforts are productive and a worthwhile experience for everyone.

 

I also have experience loading learning objects, courses and curriculum to a Learning Management System and managing its use. You can see the Instructional Design page to read more about my LMS Admin experience.

Instructional Design and more...

I have over 17 years of Instructional Design experience, applying my skills to highly technical jobs, soft skills, sales, and developmental disability training. I pride myself in my ability to evaluate, and recommend course content or curricula changes and delivery methods based on adult learning theory, current or future performance requirements, feasibility, and cost.

I move between SAM, Agile, and ADDIE effortlessly depending on the organizations preferences, but I would have to describe myself as preferring an Agile approach. I don't want to let great get the in the way of good. I could tweak projects for months but why let that stall a launch. I believe in getting good resources to users when and where they need it to do their best work. I analyze need, I create, I roll out, I evaluate, I redesign, I roll out. You get where I am going with this approach; continuous learning, continuous improvement. 

Online Curriculums

While at Schneider Electric, I was responsible for the North American New Hire Curriculum. It was the first curriculum a new hire would be exposed to at Schneider Electric. Adobe Captive and Articulate Studio Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint and Word were all used to develop this curriculum. 

 

Not only did I develop the majority of the eLearning courses offered within the curriculum, but I project managed the translation of the entire curriculum. I managed the relationship between the outside vendor and internal foreign language experts. We translated the entire curriculum into in 5 different languages.

Blended Curriculums

 

Microsoft PowerPoint and Word, Adobe Fireworks, and Adobe InDesign were all used to develop these materials.


The root of this course was a 3 day (45 minute each) online (virtual training) event. Slide decks for the classroom, lesson plans, pre-reading material, in class small group activities and homework were all created for this course.

 

There were so many materials and instructions to manage, that I designed a webpage to house all the files for students to download.

Technical Curriculums

 

While at Schneider Electric and Citrix, I developed product technical training for our internal and external sales force around Desktops as a Service, Cloud Access, Networking services, Control Products, Lighting Panelboards and Circuit Breakers, Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID) and AC Drives products and many more. 

Leadership Development / Performance Management / Emotional Intelligence

 

While at Dude Solutions, I worked under Human Resources; creating soft skills training (performance management, career pathing, upskilling and more). I met with company leaders and the Talent Management team to assess leadership needs, provide resources and support to allow professional growth for employees and new managers. 

I applied, secured, and managed a $409K grant from the State of NC for a customized training program. Out of this curricula, I created the strategy and structure for two leadership programs; Rising Stars, and LeAP (Leaders Accelerate Performance). I also worked with program instructors to develop several interpersonal communication/emotional intelligence skills programs for all employee levels.
